Ministries of the Brooke

The lighting of the alter candles is a symbol of Jesus coming into the presence of the worshipping community.
An acolyte can be a youth or an adult. The Acolyte is an important participant in the worship service by lighting and extinguishing the candles.

Music Ministry: The music ministry consists of two choirs.

Celebration Choir:
assists in leading the Contemporary Service held at 10:00am on alternate Sundays.

Traditional Choir:
assists in leading the Traditional Service held at 10:00am on alternate Sunday's.
This choir sings an anthem at each traditional service.

Church Council: 

Governing body of the church - made up of church officers and representatives from each ministry.

Responsible for managing church funds

Three greeters serve before the 10:00am service each Sunday. Greeters greet each person as they enter the narthex. Information about the service, nursery, & other amenities can be shared.
Jubilee Center:
Consists of providing a Sunday meal at Jubilee Center in downtown Rockford for the homeless and those living with severe mental disorders. Members of Brooke Road serve a meal during the Christmas/New Year season.

On traditional Sundays assists pastor with leading worship

Sound Tech:
Provide set up of microphones, monitors, etc. as required by the music minister, pastor, contemporary worship director or staff. Sound techs monitor sound, activate microphones and play appropriate music and CDs. Sound Techs may be asked to run sound/music for special events, such as weddings and funerals.

Trustees:  Meet once a month 
responsible for maintaining properties
UMW (United Methodist Women):  Meets once a month.
Open to any women of the church. The mission of UMW is to provide fellowship and serve the church.
Activities include:
Coordinate funeral luncheons
Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner
Turkey Dinner
Valentines to Seniors

Help greet people each Sunday & ensure that their worship experience is comfortable & meaningful. Ushers assist by distributing bulletins, making sure those with hearing difficulties are offered portable hearing enhancement devices, taking the offering and directing & assisting with communion.
